How recommendations work
Games are grouped by player-count fit, then sorted by BGG rating or your own rating (falling back to BGG when unrated). Ties use the share of Best votes. Both ratings are always shown. Best, Recommended and Not recommended are the largest category in the poll for that count; ties favor the more cautious category. These local labels do not reproduce BGG’s headline algorithm.
Positive polls below your minimum vote count go into Few votes. No-vote polls stay Unknown; negative polls stay Not recommended, even with few votes. The default minimum is 15 votes, a practical confidence filter rather than a statistical guarantee. A “more than N” poll bucket is shared evidence for those larger counts. Player strips use the same rules.
The time cap uses the upper BGG estimate and hides games with unknown times when active. Times exclude teaching and dinner. Your time cap and minimum-vote preference are remembered on this browser. Light is below 2, medium is 2–3.49, heavy is 3.5–5; no complexity buttons selected means any weight, including unknown. Complexity is not a measure of conversation-friendliness.
Unsupported player counts are hidden. Expansions are opt-in and need their base game; they do not automatically change its player range. This is a read-only BGG snapshot.
